CKP Professional & Technical Training Program
The 2025 NFMC summer field season presented unique challenges, with crews operating under reduced capacity while navigating hazardous wildfire conditions. Despite these obstacles, NFMC successfully employed one student and one recent graduate from the University College of the North (UCN) Natural Resource Management program through the CKP Professional & Technical Training Program.
Throughout the summer, the students demonstrated independence and professionalism by helping establish and manage a remote field camp and by carrying out Pre Harvest Surveys and Forest Renewal Assessments. Their work was completed safely, efficiently, and with a positive attitude, even under demanding field conditions.
Thanks to support from the Professional & Technical Training Program, developed by Canadian Kraft Paper Industries (CKP), one of NFMC’s summer employees is set to graduate from the Natural Resource Management program this spring. NFMC and CKP congratulate them on this achievement and wish them success in their final exams.
NFMC looks forward to continuing its involvement in student training and to another successful field season in 2026.
