Forest Management Through Partnership
A collaborative approach to sustainable forest stewardship, Indigenous participation, and responsible resource management
Nisokapawino Forestry Management Corporation (NFMC) is a forest services provider jointly owned by Nekoté Limited Partnership, representing seven First Nations, and Canadian Kraft Paper Industries (CKP) in The Pas, Manitoba.
NFMC is responsible for forest management activities on Forest Management Licence (FML) No. 2 in northern Manitoba—the largest forest tenure in North America, covering approximately 8.7 million hectares of boreal forest. The licence area overlaps the ancestral territories of nine First Nations, reflecting the importance of partnership, shared stewardship, and respect for the land.
Through this partnership, NFMC works to support sustainable forest management while advancing shared goals that include Indigenous participation in decision‑making, employment and training opportunities, community and cultural investment, educational support, and reliable access to fibre.
VISION
NFMC will be recognized for its excellence as a forest services provider, in facilitation of Indigenous and Forest Industry relationships, and actions that promote reconciliation.
MISSION
NFMC supports fibre security by strengthening relationships with the Nekoté Nations through shared decision‑making, economic opportunity, and investment in community, culture, and education.
