Submission of 20-year Forest Management Plan

After a four‑year planning process, NFMC is pleased to announce the submission of its 20‑year Forest Management Plan (FMP) to the Province of Manitoba in June 2025. The plan is now under review by the applicable provincial branches involved in the approval process.

An initial completeness check has been completed to identify any gaps in the submission, and NFMC has provided the required responses. Formal government consultation with rightsholders is currently underway, and the plan will also be made available for stakeholder and public review through the provincial government website.

The full review and approval process is expected to continue through December 2026, aligning with the expiration of NFMC’s current Forest Management Licence Agreement (FMLA). Pending approval and implementation of the new 20‑year plan, the FMLA is anticipated to renew in January 2027.

NFMC appreciates the feedback and participation received through outreach efforts over the past four years and remains available to answer questions regarding the submitted Forest Management Plan.

Opportunities for ongoing engagement continue through bi‑annual Community Information Sessions related to NFMC’s proposed 2‑year Forest Management Operating Plans (FMOPs). The next round of FMOP engagement meetings is planned to take place between December 2026 and February 2027, and community members are encouraged to attend, ask questions, and provide feedback on activities proposed in their area.

The FMP is available on the Manitoba Public Registry. Public comments are welcome and will be collected until May 25, 2026
